Janelle Reichman

548 Blues
I wrote this for the Monk Competition audition CD.

My Shining Hour

Inspire
I wrote this to be an up-tempo modal swinger and that's what it is! Quintet featuring Remy Leboeuf on alto sax, Fabian Almazan on piano, Steve Whipple on bass and Jaska Lukkarinen on drums. This was the opener of my recital.

Quick Escape
I wrote this tune for trio with bass/drums.

Bleep ($#@&^%!!!)
A 3 horn chart I wrote for trumpet/alto/tenor for my recital. Featuring Remy on alto, Jon Barnes on trumpet.....you know the rest.

Marathon Suite Movement 1: Dream
I originally wrote this 3-movement suite for a class with Phil Markowitz. The assignment was to write a programmatic suite with NO chords. That means everything is based on intervals. This suite is about my experience in running a marathon back in May of 2006.
DREAM- having the crazy idea that I could run 26.2 miles at a stretch.

Marathon Suite Movement 2: Doubt
DOUBT- around mile 20 when I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make it to the end. This features me on clarinet.

Marathon Suite Movement 3: Strength
STRENGTH: From some unknown place inside me comes the strength to finish the race. It's truly amazing what we can accomplish when we put our minds (and bodies) into something. I don't think I will ever run another marathon (I have bad hips), but it was an incredible experience which taught me a lot about myself and I'm so glad I went through with it.

Seven Come Eleven
I love Benny Goodman playing this tune and decided to do modern/traditional arrangement of it as the closer for my Masters Recital. Hear for yourself :-)

No One Home (for String Quartet)
I arranged this song I wrote "No One Home" for string quartet for my arranging class. They aren't exactly in tune the whole time, so try to overlook that!

Puddle Dance (Reichman)
From a recording session in Cincinnati on June 25, 2007 with Dan Karlsberg on piano, Steve Whipple on bass and Anthony Lee on drums.

Speak Softly (Reichman)
From a recording session in Cincinnati on June 25, 2007 with Dan Karlsberg on piano, Steve Whipple on bass and Anthony Lee on drums.

6 Flights (Reichman)
From a recording session in Cincinnati on June 25, 2007 with Dan Karlsberg on piano, Steve Whipple on bass and Anthony Lee on drums.

The Fall (Reichman)
I wrote this tune in late 2006.

Gingerbread Boy
This is me playing along with Miles' solo on Gingerbread Boy. Great solo.

On the Sunny Side of the Street (McHugh)
This is performed duo with bassist Steve Whipple at my senior recital in Cincinnati, Ohio in January of 2005. Steve and I were nextdoor neighbors for two years and played duo together very often.

Just Squeeze Me (Ellington)
I was so happy when my friend Steve Whipple told me he wanted to do a duo tune on his BM recital too! This time it's "Just Squeeze Me," which we jokingly called one of our "Reichman/Whipple Classics" because we played it duo so many times.
